Alloy 5754 is a non-heat-treatable aluminium-magnesium alloy in the 5000 series. Its chemical makeup typically includes 2.6-3.6% magnesium, along with small amounts of manganese, chromium, iron, silicon, copper, zinc, and titanium, while aluminium makes up the rest. The mechanical properties vary by temper: in softer forms (like H111), yield strength is about 60-80 MPa with tensile strength around 160-200 MPa and high elongation (greater than 12%). In harder tempers (H22/H24), strengths increase, with tensile strength reaching 240-280 MPa and yield strength around 130-190 MPa, although elongation decreases. The alloy has a density of about 2.66-2.67 g/cm³, a modulus of elasticity of around 68-70 GPa, excellent weldability, and good resistance to fatigue.
